OFFSTAGE: Alan Jackson's Approach to Fatherhood

(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that's happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

So maybe Alan Jackson is not a living, breathing Rodney Atkins song. He does have teenage daughters, but he is not actually staying up all night cleaning his gun when they go out on dates. "I'm not one of these daddies [who] stands there with the shotgun or anything," he told CMT Radio. "I do like to know what's going on because I know what I was like at that age, you know. But they're good kids, and they're smart, and they make good choices, and so you gotta trust them and try to raise them well." Which is really the only way to get through those years. With a good mix of I've-been-there and I-trust-you. Jackson's girls Mattie, Ali and Dani are all very beautiful, and I'm sure they have had all kinds of guys vying for their love over the years. "I mean, my girls are very sweet," he admitted. Happy Father's Day to Jackson and all the dads out there just like him.
