Angels and Alcohol Being Called “his best in years.”

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (July 27, 2015) – Country superstar Alan Jackson, who Billboard calls “the country icon,” just landed Angels and Alcohol at the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Country albums chart selling 45,361 albums, his fourteenth album to do so, and at No. 3 on the Billboard Top 200 with a first week consumption total of 47,881 units.

Jackson earned massive critical praise for the album the Miami Herald says is a “warm return to form” and “his best in years.”  The Tennessean calls Angels and Alcohol, his first studio album of new music in three years “quintessential Alan Jackson, and stone cold country.”

NPR calls Jackson “a country-music colossus” and says of Angels and Alcohol, “Jackson has now made a record sure to attract accolades like ‘pure’ and ‘classic.’ Washington Times says it is “elegant in its simplicity” and that it “is an audio feast that reminds you why you keep coming back for more.” AllMusic.com says Jackson “long ago established that he belongs in the pantheon of great country singers” and summarizes Angels and Alcohol by saying “it’s a pleasure to hear a master enjoying his work.”

Newsday, giving the album an “A”, says “On Angels and Alcohol, Jackson makes a difficult tightrope walk seem effortless….” Adding, “Jackson sings like a man who knows what he’s doing.”

Associated Press claims that with Angels and Alcohol Jackson “evolves into standard-bearer status…with the steady artistry of his heroes Merle Haggard and George Strait – that is, he continues to create work that suggests he’s just as in touch with his muse today as anytime in the past.”

Milwaukee Journal Sentinel says with Angels and Alcohol there is “comfort in the ongoing consistency of the tradition-leaning sound and life-exploring and -affirming storytelling that has marked every one of Jackson's releases over the past 25 years” and “it is in Jackson's strong yet tender voice that makes a country music fan feel right at home.”

Taste of Country picked Angels and Alcohol as a Critics Pick saying “Slow and steady, Jackson continues to do what he does, never rushing, never waiting for the format to catch up. From time to time his style sounds perfect against faster trends.”

CMT.com declares, “Let’s just go ahead and call Alan Jackson what he is: the master of capturing all things about real life in a country song.”

Jackson launched his 15th studio album with a major media blitz that included NPR FIRST LISTEN, CBS SUNDAY MORNING, TONIGHT SHOW starring Jimmy Fallon and a live performance on the Toyota Summer Concert Series on NBC’s TODAY.

Angels and Alcohol, Jackson’s first studio album of all new music in three years, includes seven self-penned songs including the title track and the album’s first single “Jim and Jack and Hank” is at country radio now. Angels and Alcohol, his 15th studio album, comes 25 years after his debut landmark album Here In The Real World. Since the release of Here In The Real World, Jackson has released 22 albums including two Christmas albums, two gospel albums, three Greatest Hits collections and a Bluegrass album which included standards and eight original songs written by Jackson.

The new album was produced by Jackson’s long-time collaborator and friend Keith Stegall who has produced every one of Jackson’s 23 albums over the past 25 years with the exception of one album - Like Red On A Rose (Alison Krauss).
