Success of 'Chattahoochee' was surprise to songwriters

As Music City has been hit with winter storms and below-freezing temperatures this past week, many of its residents are wishing they were somewhere warmer. Perhaps "Way down yonder on the Chattahoochee?"
Few country songs are more associated with summertime than Alan Jackson's 1993 chart-topping hit. That's due in so small part to its famous music video, with shots of Jackson water-skiing and somehow managing to keep his cowboy hat on. The country star wrote "Chattahoochee" with a frequent writing partner of his: Nashville songsmith Jim McBride.
