Alan Jackson is one of those rare artists who only gets better with age. The longing in his voice is as potent on his new single "The One You're Waiting For" as it was on his first studio record (1989's defining Here in the Real World). The track, co-written by Shannon Wright and Adam Wright, is the second official single from the legend's 2015 album, Angels and Alcohol, issued on his own Alan's Country Records (under EMI Nashville).

"[My wife] Denise is the angel. I'm the alcohol. I didn't write it from a deep dark place. You'll have to hear the lyrics to understand, but it's one of my favorite cuts on the record," he told Billboard.com last summer of his 21st studio record. Other emotional gems on the project include the stirring title track, "You Can Always Come Home" and "When God Paints."

"The One You're Waiting For" (which impacts May 9) follows last summer's "Jim and Jack and Hank" lead single.

Jackson's 2016 Keepin' It Country Tour continues on Friday (April 29) with a show at the U-W Milwaukee Panther Arena in Milwaukee, Wis., with newcomer Lauren Alaina as his opener. Remaining tour dates are below:
