Help Alan Find His First Guitar

June 29, 2012 | Haley Goldberg | USA Weekend

Country star Alan Jackson sat down with USA WEEKEND to talk about his new album, Thirty Miles West, country music and more.

The country superstar collects guitars — so far about 100 of them. But a very special one is missing. Can you help Alan Jackson find his first guitar?

“It’s a sad story,” Jackson says. “My first guitar, I got when I was 16; my parents gave it to me. I don’t even know why I hadn’t expressed interest in music, but that’s what got [it] started.”

“It was a little Aria, a little company that made inexpensive, acoustic guitars, [and] the only one I had forever. When I came to Nashville, I retired it when I [got] a better guitar up here, after I made it.”

What happened?

“I can’t find it,” says Jackson, who has switched managers, since loaing the guitar to a museum. “We thought we gave it to Georgia Music Hall of Fame and then we thought we gave it to somewhere else.

“We can’t find it anywhere. We don’t know what happened to it. Maybe we can start a campaign? It’s out there somewhere.”

So, here goes. If you have a clue, let us know in the comments section below. We’ll pass tips along to Jackson, who says simply, “I’d like to get that back, it was my first guitar.”

Need Single - 2012-07-26
Dixie Highway should definitly be made a single. Radio stations here in West Virginia say they can't play songs unless they come out as singles. I would love to hear more of your music on my local Radio Stations. I have almost all of your CD's and will have them all before long. Could I possibly get a list of all of your CD's emailed to me, so that I don't miss any of them? I would greatly appreciate it. Good Luck finding your guitar. Love your music.

Love it soo much - 2012-07-26
I love "Everything But the Wings "too. The way you sing it with your soft and warm voice is like no other could have sung it better than you.

My first guitar - 2012-07-26
I got my first guitar at 13, took lessons, and gave it up. WEhen I was 15 I lived with my cousin in Tulahoma, Tn and he played guitar and got me interested again. I've play since and I think my first guitar was trashed whan my mom and dad divorced, and I moved to Tn to live with my cousin. It was a cheap silvertone from Sears. (Red & White)

New Single - 2012-07-03
Please make "Everything but the Wings" your new single. I Love this song so much. I dedicated it to my fiance and it made her cry. obviously I don't have your voice where you make certain words shiver and make you get the chills, but you get the picture. Also "Every now and then" from Freight Train should have definitely been a Single. What happened with that?
