MINERAL, VA WINS FREE ALAN JACKSON CONCERT
Nashville, TN – When country music superstar Alan
Jackson gave music fans the opportunity to have their city host a free concert
in celebration of his new single “Long Way To Go” and forthcoming album, no one
had any idea what municipality might win, and few would have predicted the
prize would go to Mineral, VA. But the small town – population 490 – amassed
over 31,000 votes to win the contest.
The news comes as Mineral continues to repair and rebuild in
the wake of a rare East Coast earthquake on August 23rd. Mineral was at the epicenter of the quake,
which caused damage countywide.
“Alan Jackson coming to our little town for a concert has
taken our minds off of ‘poor us’ and given everyone something to look forward
to next year,” shares Mineral’s Mayor Pam Harlowe.
Fans had two months to vote in the
nationwide campaign which was powered by Eventful, Inc. Plans for the free
concert are being discussed with the town of Mineral. Details will be announced once a
date is set.

I had people voting as far away as Idaho! I live only a few miles from Mineral, VA. I think counting the after shocks we are up past 40 something. After a while I just stopped counting. However, I know a lot of people in Louisa County and in the surrounding counties are very excited to hear the up coming concert plans. |

I voted everyday and sent out FB and emails as far as Alabama to vote for Mineral and it worked. I live in Fredericksburg, VA and can't wait for this to happen....the next best thing would be if George Strait would show up and sing the duet with his buddy.....that would be just AWESOME....again Congrats, Mineral you deserve, we all deserve it as we in Fredericksburg felt it also.....WHOO HOO |

Mineral is still experiencing after shocks from the earthquake that was felt on the east coast. A hurricane affected the east cost a week later and yesterday a tornado touched down in Louisa Co where Mineral is located. I am so glad that they won and are able to host the concert! They need our support as they rebuild the area affected but the tragic events |

| Thank you so much for doing this! I campaigned hard for Mineral to win. It may have been my Facebook post that started the newspaper and local radio stations to campaign too. :-)
Mineral has been hit hard and today they were struck again. A tornado apparently touched down there. The people in Mineral will truly appreciate your concert. I sure hope to be there.

I voted almost everyday and I know this is a free concert but this town needs help so I hope there is a way to raise money to help the people of Mineral since FEMA has denied their requests for funds.
