ORANGE BEACH, Alabama (WALA) - Six thousand free tickets to the Alan Jackson concert in Orange Beach were gone in less than two hours. Thousands of people lined up at the Wharf’s box office Monday morning. Four at a time, every ticket was given away for the Jackson concert.

The first people arrived before dawn, but most folks waited about two hours for their tickets.

“This is the first one I actually got tickets to out of all the free concerts,” Haley Gregorious from Fairhope told FOX10.

“We love Alan Jackson. We love Gulf Shores. I’m pleased,” Janet Brown from Gulf Shores said.

THE LAST “CONCERT ON THE COAST”

The Alan Jackson concert is on October 30. It's the last show in the “Concerts for the Coast” series. The shows were designed to bring in revenue and help an economy devastated by the oil spill.

The Jackson concert was meant to be a little different. Tickets were given to locals, so they can blow off steam after a bad year.

“It’s much needed. We love the coast and we’ve talked to people all summer with businesses or actually losing their businesses because no one is coming,” Brenda Iddins from Orange Beach said

GONE IN AN HOUR AND A HALF

It took just an hour and a half to give away all 6,000 tickets and the luckiest person in line was Jurrell Jackson. He got the very last ticket.

“I’m quite fortunate to get the last ticket,” Jackson said. ”It’s going to be quite an event out here at the Wharf.”

Although, it looks like Jackson will be going by himself. There was only one ticket left. But he won’t be totally alone. Six thousand other people will be there, too.

This does not surprise me at all. That Alan would do this for these people or that the tickets went so quickly. Bravo Alan!
