Good  Morning to Everyone!

After going to Alan's concerts, I miss all of you we saw..It was a great time for us. Does anyone know if Pontus and Sabrina got home ok.. Hollywoood and St Augustine Florida were both good concerts to see Alan, so glad we were able to go!

I had a wonderful week & weekend with family visiting also. The most beautiful twins in the world was visting us & their brother & family.I really enjoyed the little bundles of joy! They are just precious. I am so sore today I can't move but it was worth it. Heavy
little buggers after you hold thema  long , long time LOL

Harriet, I hope & pray you feel better now, like you I do not trust thta pneumonia shot to last that long now. Mom had the shot and she got pneumonia too but survived it@ 90, so maybe it does save lives, just as sick as you were. so sorry you had it but I hope you feel stronger soon! All of you who are ill, I hope you feel better soon. Kimberly I hope you are ok too.

Wish we had more reviews on the Concerts & especially the meet & greet winners. Perhaps later..

Terry amazing you found Sharon's camera, so happy you did and can give it to her in TN. I was thinking of us going to the TN Concert but we have to go see my mom & check on her. You take care traveling all over. I didn't see you that much at the concert but just knowing you are there, I feel your presence. You are so nice and thoughful, thanks for telling him my name, Monty, the Strayhorn, I really wanted to meet him so many times & decided to just go for it. I really like his new CD. Being honest I will tell you why I didn't walk over to meet Pontus and Sabrina, I am still dealing with vertigo a bit and my ear problem and frankly afraid I might fall & Hubby would not walk down w/me, so sorry. I had intended to especially meet them this time.I was hopitalized recently for the ear problem, I hope they understand. I usually hold on to my hubby for support & go nowhere alone at Concerts, after this happening. God was with me when I walked to go for my meet & greet alone with Alan, a while back but this was before I was hospitalized. The dizzyness had started a bit before then but worsened later.

I hope Dizzy, Sue, Harriet, Terry, Kimberly, Elaine, Jean/az, Jean/B,Kathy,Nelle, ajscatsmom(sp?) Jinx, Sherry,Anita,Keely, caz,BHR, Sabrina & Pontus and all those I have missed are fine and Enjoy your Day! so nice meeting new AJ members.
We will see Alan again soon & be Happy! I really get so much from his Concerts! He is Indeed a Great Country Singer and Man!
Oh yes Louann Special wishes for your Birthday !!!your friend Debbie, give her our best.
Hugs, Jerrie aka Artsy-MS-FL

Went to Alan Jackson's concert this evening in St. Leonard's MD it was the greatest show ever.  Kelly Pickler did a wonderful job.  Alan's performance was the best.  Can't wait until he is around MD again.

Thanks for sharing this.. So glad you got to see Alan. I love his Concerts also and all the Fans are beginning to meet up quiet a bit from all over. Our latest couple is from Sweden. Thye had a blast seeing Alan's concert in Florida.
I like Kellie Pickler and she has a good song out now. I'm sure she did great. She visits our troops and I love her for this.
I hope you get to see Alan again..
Thanks,
Jerrie aka Artsy-MS & FL

Voting, requesting, and streaming every day.

Terry me too, but tell me why is Alan's new single not being played here now? I have tried everything and they only put in
on the list as N/A... later after I voted for the song, it never played again.. strange . I have requested, called , Emailed and
vote  streaming. It is really a better song than the Title sounds, much deeper. would love to hear it play.

Elaine, I agree about things children are around these days. mine do not wear makeup yet but as you said, unless to class function or party. Then only light lipstick. Your Kelsey sounds like my loved ones. They tell me all the time, " we hear much worse things in school."
They plan their future now and read and enjoy nice things in life. They are so kind, I'm so proud of them & their goodness.
one of mine has a friend that is going through the" love boys" age. she laughs telling us that she has to keep her friend out of trouble. she comprehends things like an Adult. so caring and thoughful.

We are taking ours to NY for one special birthday! They want to see the museums etc.
It is sad to see children taken from their homes, there are so many nowdays going through this.
Your daughter sounds like mine, she is making a diffrence in the lives of the children I'm sure. a sad society that has children
and then doesn't feel obligated to bring them up properly. So selfish they put themselves before their children. a shame..

we want our children to be leaders , like your Kelsey. my GD never follows what others do or how they dress. nice to hear there are other parents concerned, not just me being over protective. Thanks. she is the one that went to see her first concert with us. Alan Jackson of course.. He threw a pick to row 3, she caught it and said" I want you to have this,
you like Alan Jackson's music so much." I will never forget that. Her mom said "what about me?" ha she was j/k. I told her I would leave it to her in my will LOL.

Elaine,

That's just it, you can't shut the TV off  but you can control what they see at home, which my family does. How do you control their music on their own computers, which they have to have for homework. fortunately, this is not my family problem but I think with
young people are in to computers far too much, also they don't get proper exercise when doing texing & computer things constantly .
Why can't music just be fun like it used to be or songs that imply what the average persons life is like.

I'm no prude but there is too much violence in young people's lives and what do we expect if they see and accept it as the norm for our society.  we need to wake up and not let this happen! It's really up to us to determine what our society is like.
My children were leaders in their class, not followers but the ones who follow often get on the wrong track in life.

Children are having to take care of parents on drugs etc. what a shame for our society.. They need to know that this is NOT the norm in my family and certainly the good outweighs the bad in our society.

They are being desensitized by vulgar music, far too early in life. Singers should record only music that they will allow their children to listen to. I suppose some singers I wont mention quotes"They do much worse things out there than I sing about"
also" do not bring children to concerts if you don't want them to hear it" Then they go on to call him"A Great Singer and songwriter." Families need to do things with their children, they have so little time when both parents work. Why do concerts that children can't attend. What if all Concerts were like this, This way of thinking in our society seems to be tearing the family apart.

In our society today sex sells, so will they do anything to get a  Hit record and seem proud. the industry just wants  them to sell
music. The more the better. This really concerns me..  then people wonder why is all the violence in school etc.. wake up!!

off my spapbox now --

The Off Topic says we can post ANYTHING, so I had discussed this with my relatives recently and some attend School of the Arts.
This bill is up in the House right now, being voted on. I feel music is important as any Art Form to depict our History.

Country Music has been on radio since 1922. It Indeed depicts History, therefore it's an Art Form we should honor
There was Bluegrass, Honky Tonk and all kinds since . With Elvis and Johnny Cash and others, taking it to the movie screens.

I listen to Country Music quite a lot at home just doing my usual chores. I noted the lyrics on some songs on the internet
were not as they sound, but much more. As parents of young people who listen to all kinds of music, it just occured to me that
what most Radio plays is not my norm and I'm sure it's not for many other people. I'm not some prude who moniters music to pick it apart, but really concerned for children who view the internet and listen when their parents can't always be with them.
The messages they are exposed to in music is not my norm.

There has always been drinking songs and cheating songs but none that dwell on sensuality or violence..Heck if someone actually did some of the things suggested , they would be arrested.

we need good Country Music that depicts our History,. If you listen to some lyrics today, we are a sad society. I do not think most people relate to the violent content or vulgarity.

What kind of society do we want our children to live in, it's up to us basically.. reminds me of the Quote;

"I believe most people are basically good at heart" Anne Frank-   This said after all she endured.

Alan Jackson's Music is about Life, Love and Fun and  Family, it's perfectly safe for children to attend his Concerts !

Thanks Alan Jackson!

Just wondering how most people feel about it.  You do have an opinon do you not?

1703  General Category / Off Topic / Music Lyrics in Todays Country Music on: October 07, 2009, 09:01:44 am

WHAT IS YOUR OPINON?

I KNOW COUNTRY MUSIC IS AN ART FORM BUT AS PARENTS, SHOULD WE BE CONCERNED ON WHAT OUR CHILDREN
ARE WATCHING ON TV AND LISTENING TO ON COMPUTERS,WHEN PARENTS AREN"T AROUND.

IS MUSIC OF TODAY, IMITATING THIS ART FORM AND HOW WILL CHILDREN KNOW THAT THIS IS NOT THE NORM.

I FEEL WE OWE A CERTAIN RESPONSIBILITY TO USE LANGUAGE THAT IS NOT OFFENSIVE.

DO ARTIST REALLY CARE ABOUT IT"S INFLUENCE OR DO THEY SELL ANYTHING TO GET A HIT

I HAVE HEARD BEAUTIFUL SONGS BY SINGERS, THAT IF ONE LINE HAD BEEN LEFT OUT THAT WAS VULGAR, THE SONG WOULD HAVE BEEN EXCELLENT!

Dizzy,

All of you Fans, never give up on meeting Alan.. congrats to ajthecatsmom again! It is the best experience and one that lasts too.
That makes it even better. It lingers and you remember every moment, every word said.. and not said lol.. I had wanted to Thank Alan for all his beautiful Music and songs and how they had blessed my life. Never came close to that. I was a bit nervous at home but not there standing next to him. He has this way of making you feel special.. He is a tall lanky guy that is so super nice..
I hope for all of you to meet him and  never give up! He probably thinks we are silly for thinking of him this way, but he is a Wonderful Country Singer, how often do you get to meet someone you admired for years!
ALAN JACKSON MAKES MY LIFE BETTER!  He will never know how he influences peoples lives, by his gift of Songs, the super nice man that he is. Thank You, Thank You Alan!!

Jerrie aka Artsy- MS & FLorida!!!

PS- I met Alan for my Meet and Greet in Tupelo , MS where Elvis lived Yo!
Roger I enjoyed meeting too! His big smile was priceless! also meeting Monty Allen was great in St Augustine, he is so talented also so sweet!
You Guys "be Sweet", as Alan said when leaving.. My Dad used to say that to us and he was the "Small Town Southern Man"
Alan sings about. He was the best farmer in our county and got the most cotton per acre, he was my hero and a wonderful farmer of cotton & later soybeans. he had hundreds of acres to farm and that is hard work!
We had everything we needed as young children, love, food, shelter and Church and all our community helped instill values in our lives. I still love the Country in Mississippi, always will. That is why it was so special that I got a Meet and Greet in  Mississippi!
Thank You , Thank You!!!

Sue, Great Review!!!
Our photos were not that good since they told us to take our good camera back to the car.. You looked pretty , however..
Can't believe mine were good, I'm not photogenic at all, but yours look so sweet.. really enjoyed our time , sure wish my husband and I had time to meet all of you at the Conch house, but my son was here late with my new babies. could never leave them and will see them again too.

Sue, so glad to know you got home all the way from MN ok. Your hubby should come with you for sure!
My husband goes to the symphony but he never refuses to drive me to an Alan Concert. Well actually he loves to eat & I would boycott the kitchen if he didn't lol j/k remember Sue, I told you how long we had been married ha! It works. we married at 2 or 3 lol
The concert was really uptempo in Hollywood, even more so than St Augustine I think. Oh Yes, at St Augustine the guards were standing by the side in the pit area..so that may be why you din't see them. I heard a group pf people talking and looked and it was "Strayhorn & backup singer w/Alan,Monty Allen", so I jumped up and asked him if I could shake hands with him, he is super nice! He said "yes!" and was so kind and I could hardly speak from yelling & asthma, so I told him(of all things ha) he said "do you use that albuterol" I do ha! I had seen him a lot of times and never spoke to him, ,love his voice and his own CD! nice meeting him.Sorry I failed to tell him that .I heard Terry say" this is Jerrie",so I probably interupted something ha! Thanks Terry for the introduction, my thoughts were failing me.. I never did see you then ha! but thanks for Terry to the rescue!

I am so terribly sorry we didn't get to meet Pontus and Sabrina, please accept our apology. our son came in and we just could not leave. Come back again and visit Florida! we saw you and the Flag from our seats! I am not good to go all over meeting people, but I love people. I guess I'm a bit like Alan( only I talk a LOT!)What a great memory seeing the ones we saw and hearing the best Country Singer. And I thought he had left Florida out of his Tour ha! Two concerts in a few days is the BEST! After meeting Alan , I feel like I know him even more, anyone else? what a night!! I lost my voice from yelling and Hubby loves it lol j/k not really ha!
Blessings to all, Jerrie Aka Artsy
sue loved our little visit and my hubby did too! Thanks! Dizzy thanks for your coming my also, my hubby likes you!
The concert in St Augustine was much like the one at Hollywood, but Chris Young didn't sing there. I like his new song!

Sabrina and Pontus, Thanks for making our Concerts so much fun by sharing your experiences and beautiful photos. It was made even more wonderful by seeing all your Posts about your trip! You made it so much fun for us to enjoy reading and seeing the photos. My Husband made a photo of you and your Sabrina with the Flag at St Augustine but he has not downloaded them yet, we had to take our good camera back to the car, so this was just a  small cheap one..I was hoping we could meet up with you guys all back before the Concert but could not see anyone. we had drinks at a nice place by the Venue & rested up from walking so much. St Augustine surprised me with this pretty nice venue, we never go to outdoor ones as I'm asthamatic, but it was cool
being by the side and row 6. You could probably see better than us being in the center. Sharon, sorry I missed seeing you! So happy all of you got to meet up with Sabrina and Pontus at the Conch House. Sounds like fun! Sorry we missed that.. Such a  pleasure having Sabrina and Pontus visit with Fans from Here , just wish I had been there! Come back to FL again sometime!
BTW- Congrats on your being wed in that beautiful old church there and marvelous honeymoon here!Much . Much Happiness to You in the future!

Jerrie aka Artsy--FL & MS
I hope someone has some nice photos at St Augustine!
