1  General Category / Live Show and Tour Discussion / Re: St. Augustine show in May on: Today at 12:41:00 pm
The concert last night was absolutely perfect....just like all of Alan's concerts.  He looked amazing and was so relaxed and talkative.  The venue is a wonderful place to go....smaller and easy to get in and out.  A really fun night!   Dizzy and Mazie were there and we also talked to Faye who was there with her daughter.   Jerrie, you were missed...you should have been there!  Next time!

Thanks for posting about your night! Love it! Jerrie

Happy Mother's Day to each and every Mother on earth and in heaven !
Beth,
Well said and Thank You. My Mom died in my arms at 92 almost 93 and not long ago.She was in skilled Nursing & ready
"when the good Lord calls", she would say.
I miss her so and always will.i will always be "Her Baby" she said. My older  sister called me on Mother's Day & said "I Miss Mom, & I know you do." then we talked about funny times too!

Love your Mom's while you have them, always.
I was in MS a few weeks before she died and won a Meet and Greet to see Alan in MS. Strange thing, we took our laptop or I would never had gotten that Email telling me. I screamed LOUD! ha! My sister & her hubby went with us.
Alan will never know how much meeting him meant to me at that sad time. we talked a while. Thanks Alan, so very much! It gave me such peace to stand by Alan & see he was so humble. He never rushed me. it meant so much to me.

Mother was a great lady of faith and always there for her children. God Bless You All & your loved ones, Jerrie from MS

Thanks Dizzy for thinking of me. I have been to that Venue and it's good & comfy. I talked to Sue there once.
Presently I am doing treatments for Asthma weekly and it's much too hot some nights. It's the humidity mostly.

So happy you & Mazie can go. I hope she feels well enough to go to Nashville by then. You have been such loyal Fans!
Flying to Nashville does sound like a better idea. Alan is worth the travel and his Musicians! I hope to go a long time.
when we go or visit our son, we stop halfway now, if we have the time.
Take care you two, Hugs Jerrie

Harriet,Thanks for all you do to add to the board!

I am enjoying these cooler nights, but the days in the hot 80's, is not good for an asthmatic.
It seems we spend too much time w/illiness in the family lately, but we have Joy also to balance the time.

we have some fun time coming up to let our daughter know what a great Mom she has been!

All you Mom's, Have a Great Mother's Day! Be Grateful & Enjoy! Jerrie-MS

A Great idea! I can download the two Video's from I-Tunes also. I listen to Alan's new one on I-Tunes also.

I gave Alan's first one, to the Assisted care when my mom was there. They were thrilled to hear the tunes on it. I think I may carry this new one by, to brighten their day!

Ladies & Gents, if you still have your Mom's, this would be an excellent gift to include in her Gift basket for "Mother's Day!" Harriet, it's Great that Alan's Latest is charting so well, thanks for telling us.Jerrie
9  General Category / Alan Music Discussion / Re: Alan Filling George's Shoes on: May 04, 2013, 12:18:35 pm
I have to agree with you. I am  Country born and I identify with Alan Jackson's Music. Today on radio reflects the change in our Society. The breakdown of the Family. Values and Love. Sure there is heartache and hard times , but Alan sings about Family and Love. He sang "Choices" when it wasn't being allowed . He stood up for a Friend and all Country, with his Song w/George Strait. Alan stands Values and he loves his Country Music.I hope Alan continues to Carry the torch for Great Country music! Thanks for your Comments, Jerrie from MS :

Alan Being the Man he is, wont try to fill George Jones Shoes, as he had his own time & sound but he will always Be my favorite, Great Country Music Singer of Today I do hear a bit of Mr. Jones sound in Alan's Music and also the softness of
Don Williams, maybe a bit of Vern Gosdin also.. But Noone sounds today like Alan Jackson , we feel we know Alan and his Family through his Music. I was so lucky to meet Alan and speak to him a while, I treasure that time. He's so humble.
 my opinion only, concerning Music.

For Those of You who missed the Funeral on TV here. I respectfully share this Short clip for his Many Fans to see.
The first part is his Birthday , we actually attended and we enjoyed seeing "George" so much w/Alan.
It was such a Beautiful Service. I actually missed the first part, as our TV repair man was here and I could not wait for him to finish his work. Thank God Alan was on Later. Alan did the whole song & He tipped his hat & held it over his Heart.

That performance today by Alan is what endears him to all of his fans --- just a wonderful person!
Yes, You are so right. I met Alan and he is the Real Deal. I loved the way Alan held his Hat over his Heart , after having sang George's Song at the funeral today. It was typical Alan showing respect and Love.
I really liked What their Pastor said about"George", some funny but so much like he was.So glad he had "Nancy" to spend his better Years with, but I Pray for her during this time of loss. Also the family. The Pastor knew "George" knew God, but it was interesting that he shared how, in his last moments, his knowing God.

As someone said, "George" sang" for" the People, not just "to" the people",His Heart wrenching Songs & delivery showed this.
"George" influenced the Younger Guys lives also, Like Alan, Brad Paisley, Kenny Chesney and many more. His unpretetious ways, reminds me of Alan and humorous ones  also.

I'm sure, "George" is pleased to know how many Fans shared time with him today at his other Home, The Grand Ole Opry. That Building will reflect all the Greats of Country Music Forever.
I loved the way the announcer said, as Alan walked away from his singing Tribute Today, "Alan Jackson, another Great Singer of Country Music." Indeed he is and to me The Best Country Music Singer and Songwriter, but I'm prejudiced.
My prayers go out to "Nancy"Today. "Peace Be With You" Love In Christ, Jerrie from MS

Thanks Beth,
My Condolences to "Nancy and Family. As I watched the funeral today , it seemed unreal that George Jones is Gone.
To his eternal Home  to be w/God. One could see the grieving and hurt in so many people's eyes. The service was
done so beautifully. I loved what each one said about"George", especailly Mrs. Bush and His Pastor. Also Gov Huckabee.

All the while I noted the pain in "Nancy's eyes. I loved Alan Jackson singing George's Song in Tribute.A Legend is gone
but his music will live on. a Good Man who loved his Family and God.Nancy may God give you " that Peace that Passeth all understanding" KJV and your Family. Just a Beautiful Service to be shared with his Fans and we Thank You.

Mr Stubbs did a great Honor to speak and honor George , and all the others who participated in the Great Service.
I will never forget George Jones, he was in my life of My Country Mississippi Upbringing. God Bless You George Jones,
In Chirst w/Love, Jerrie

BHR,
Thank You so much for sharing this Tribute.Nearly every Newspaper had the death of a Legend, also TV shows told about it. An amazing Legend.
BHR, so happy that you got to see Alan, I'm sure it was difficult for Alan to sing. He usually closes his eyes, when
nearly tearing up. Thanks Again, Respectfully, Jeri

Oh My ! Our Legend George Jones, a Legend has died. I am in shock remembering having been at his  last Birthday Show with Alan singing his "He Stopped Loving Her Today" and George looked so pleased. I feel such sadness of loss for his wife "Nancy" his Family and Alan Jackson & Family , among many , many Legends and just plain people who loved him. It's just too sad for words. .....

What a Legend he  was for 5 Decades and 150 hits or in that number.. I'm Just still in shock, even knowing he was hospitilized recently. I was hoping he would be at the BridgeStone and see him one last time.
I feel so bad for his Family and the Loss  for Great Country Music  , even knowing that his Music lives on and on..

God be with All who Loved George Jones and especially his "Nancy " of 30 Years & his Family.

God Bless and May he rest in peace. Prayers that "Nancy" will feel that "Peace that passeth All Understanding" that only God gives. May The Family feel the Love from Mr. George Jones Fans all over the World.
His Life and Legacy will long be remembered in his Music.

I feel  for Alan Jackson & Family, and I know he was inspired by George when becoming Famous himself.God Bless You All, Jerrie from MS
