I never even got an email about this show. Our family goes to all the shows in the PA area. I have checked my emails and nothing was sent. Paul had surgery last week so I was not on the internet much, but I did check my emails regularly. Very very very disappointed to not even be notified about the show.

Why was there no email about this show? I check regularly and Paul just happen to sign on and found out tix went on sale 2 days ago. I have received emails about all his other concerts but nothing about this show in PA. Very disappointed here.

Paul, Rachel (with bitty baby) and I will be there again tonight. With Margie! (Matt still had committments in Virginia). Last night at Trenton was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Both the meet-and-greet AND the show. I don't know how it can be topped.
I'll try to post about both shows this weekend when I am finished teaching. See you guys there! Hope

Getting excited here! Tomorrow's the big day.
I moved all my piano students to Saturday because I want to get there in plenty of time. It's about a 2 hour drive for us without traffic. But we have to go through Philadelphia to get up north and I don't want to be late because of afternoon rush hour traffic. My dad lives about 30 minutes from the venue. He is finally home after recovering from major open heart surgery this past June, so we are going to spend some time with him before heading to Trenton for the show.
Matt can not be with us because he has a performance of his own down in Virginia (with his Shenandoah college band). But we've invited a kind man we've become friends with at Applebee's trivia night who loves Alan's music to use Matt's ticket.
I'll try to post after the show tomorrow night, but we are also going to the show on Friday in Reading and I have work to get done between the two shows!
Hugs to all, Hope

Hi Dizzy,
Yes. We've been going to concerts since Chris was a baby and he is 23 now. Matt is now in his 4th year down at Shenandoah University and Conservatory studying Music Production and Recording. He can still sing and play every Alan song (on multiple instruments too). We feel incomplete as a family when he is away at college (like last night) and can't attend Alan's concerts with us. Rachel is a senior in high school and missed the show last May when her prom was scheduled for the same night. But Paul and I still go to as many concerts as we can and the kids come when they are home.
We did meet Alan at Fan Fair when the boys were babies back in 1992. And we got lucky once with a radio meet-and-greet. Just never had our 'name pulled from the hat' by the Fan Club yet. Hopefully that time will come for us and for you too!!
Where are you located? Maybe we can hook up at a future concert! We love meeting other AJ fans! Hope

I must be mellowing in my old age. Things that used to bother me more just don't seem as important as family, friends, good health, and great music:
Yes our seats were not very good at all last night. Probably because we are usually so spoiled by the fan club with incredible seats we forget that many people in the audience still had seats even further away.
Yes the parking/fair grounds were expensive and annoying after a 3+ hour car ride. Yet I got to relax and share the ride with my family and sing Alan Jackson songs the whole way up to Bloomsburg.
Yes, sigh, I didn't get a meet and greet from the fan club (I've never been randomly drawn for anything in 23 years). But two of my good friends did get to meet him last night and I am so happy for them. Alan Jackson fans are the best people!!
Yes, I had someone yell at me at the beginning of the show for standing up in front of him. But my sweet daughter made friends with him and by the end of the show he shook my hand and we parted as true Alan Jackson fans!
Yes he didn't sign autographs at the end of the show. But he sang Chasin That Neon Rainbow and for me it made my entire night.
And mostly, think about this: In this whole entire world, as large as it is, all of us last night shared the same small little speck on the earth as the best country singer in the world, getting to hear him sing his songs live for us. Thank you again Alan Jackson. I will never get tired of hearing you perform for us. I hope you continue to do so for a long long time!!
Hope

Hi from one of the G O O D T I M E signers!! We were there and surprisingly, even though we also were seated way in the back and off on an impossible angle, Alan did catch us holding up our signs. He motioned to his camera man to film it the second time he/we spelled out the words and we were up on the big screen!!! Quite a thrill as we thought we were too far away to be noticed tonight!
Rachel used to get up on the screen all the time when she was younger during Little Bitty! She just turned 18 a couple weeks ago, so she's not the little girl of choice anymore during the song, but she managed to get up to the stage for the encore and the camera man had her and her Bitty Baby doll on the screen a couple times then!
AND WHAT AN ENCORE! I am sure many of you remember when Alan stopped singing Pop A Top on the awards show midway to break into a rendition of George Jones song as George was not allowed to sing his full song that night on the show. Well during the encore of Mercury Blues, Alan threw out what looked to us to be T-shirts to the crowd. Midway thru the song he turned his back to the audience. Next thing we know the music stops for a second or so and then Alan is at the microphone singing Chasin That Neon Rainbow!!! WHAT??? I have never heard him do this before at the end of the encore and I've been to over 300 shows at this point. TOTALLY made my night and birthday weekend celebration!
Thanks Alan! I was smiling over it the whole 3 1/2 hour ride back home. See you in Trenton and Reading in November. Hope

Yes that was Matt with the guitar. He was just home from his third year at Shenandoah University and Conservatory in Virginia. He does not get to see Alan as much since he is away from home most of the year. It was kind of sad that Alan didn't do his usual Mercury Blues etc and his normal signing at the end.

We were given incorrect directions by the venue on where to park. So we were all the way on the other side of the Casino and had to walk a long way to get to the arena. And through smoke-filled rooms. UGH! Then we had to go back outside and walk around the hotel before we could even pick up our tickets. Needless to say we were quite upset when we finally got our tickets at almost 8:30 to find out there was no opening act and we had driven 2 1/2 hours to miss the first half hour of Alan's show. We also tried all day to get through on the phone to verify that there was an opening act and the venue's phone line said their mailbox was full. Still nice to see Alan, but would've liked to have seen the whole show!
