Dot - that's so funny! Something I'd do, too.
I wasn't sure how they handled people going up to the rail at the Ryman. The 2 times I saw him I sat in my seat and they let everyone come close. I had great seats both times so I didn't mind sitting too much. I'd like to go down front this time since I"m travelling so far to see him. I want to bring my Sweetbriar book for him to sign from the stage if possible.
Can't wait for March 20th!!!!! Woooo Hoooo!!!!
Counting the days.....

I have my clock radio set to a Boston Country station. So much of the new country music doesn't even sound like country. No pedal steel or fiddle, etc. It's better than a lot of the really lousy music being played on mainstream music channels but when I was growing up we thought of country as being: Buck Owens, George Jones, Johnny Cash, etc.
For those of you who live in the Nashville area, you probably know about Jim Lauderdale. He does a lot to preserve American Country music. He's pretty wonderful, too. He's also big on traditional Bluegrass.
Sorry - back on topic..... I got my fingers and toes crossed that Alan and his nephew win the Grammy. It's a really nice song and Alan performs it to perfection.

General Category / Off Topic / Recommendations while in Nashville and Memphis?

My friend and I are flying down from Boston to Nashville to see Alan at the Ryman. I've never been but my friend has been lucky enough to see another show there. We were hoping to see Jim Lauderdale, too, while in town but he is performing in Florida that weekend. I love Bluegrass, too.
Anyway, if any of you local folks have some tips of some places to see or restaurants to eat at, I'd appreciate your feedback. We'll be spending time in Nashville first then heading on to Memphis.
I know we'll be going to Graceland and Sun Studios and probably to the Civil Rights museum in Memphis. We'll do some stuff in Nashville, too. All in all, we'll probably be in Tennessee for about 4 days.
Thanks in advance for your input.
Can't wait for the trip!

I've always wanted to attend a show at the Ryman and at the end of 2012 one of my wishes was: "To see Alan Jackson perform at The Ryman". I figured he'd be there one of these days, but was I surprised (and estatic) to get the email from the fan club about this date. I immediately called my friend (who's seen him twice with me) and she didn't hesitate on an answer.
Anyway, it would be fun to meet some of you folks there. We'll be putting together our flights and hotel info soon. I think we're plannning on flying down on the day of the show and coming back on Saturday night or Sunday.
Can't wait to see where we're sitting and to see AJ at the Ryman! YAY!

I called out of work today so I could get tix. We have a firewall at work so I wasn't sure if I'd be prevented from getting on the site.
My friend, Susan and I will be heading down from Boston to Nashville to attend the show at the Ryman.
For the person who asked about ticket placement - all tickets say "RESERVED". They have to be picked up at "Will Call" on the day of the show so you have to wait until then to find out where you'll be in the venue. My friend, Susan, saw Bob Dylan there and the good news is she says there's really not a bad seat in the house.
I'M SO EXCITED!!!!!!! I CAN'T WAIT!

General Category / Off Topic / Alan Jackson Webpage Masthead?

Maybe someone can help me....
I'm not sure where this should be posted so I thought "Off Topic" would be best.
I looked in the toolbox to get a masthead for the top of my Facebook Page. They all have old advertising copy on them. I was hoping there would be a plain one with a nice photo of Alan I could use.
I realized that I'm unable start a thread in the FC forum since it's only for things that Cindy and staff can start.
Do you know if they read comments in the other parts of the site? If so, do you have any formatted mastheads for our use (I'm not great at manipulating photos, etc). Thanks in advance. I love this site.
Happy New Year!
