Hello, you all. Been a long time since I have come here to read the extra topic area.
I was sick for 2 wks starting 12/18 with a cold..then a 3 day viral type of headache and getting thru it all was a challenge but at least I am retired and could take care better.
My Sweetbriar book arrived today...signed. It is wonderful and I'm glad I splurged on it with that cause getting the full benefit. I love photography and could put myself in Alan's shoes as he went around the estate trying to decide on angles. I visited the street edge of the property several times with other fans and the last time was 2003 with my hubs who was So embarrassed. One time there were 5 of us and we all sent a Chevy kiss (like Dinah Shore used to do) up towards the sec. camera and it was Father's Day during Fan Fair week.
We had a great time at Alan's Springfield, IL concert in Nov.
I don't get into the emailing like I used to do (as much)...and am recently catching up with some people that way but not steadily.

This is not a new practice and he is not the only singer who allows this to happen. We first witnessed this moving of the young blondes into the front row back in 1998. It was after that concert that I ended up in an emergency room the next morning as we had stayed overnite. The nurse in ER told me that her 16 yr old daughter was one of the young fans picked as they were entering the arena room.
Back in 2000 one of the band members asked me if I had good seats (4th row) and I said yes... thinking he was just curious as he sort of knows who I am. I am dense! He was going to upgrade the seats I figured out later. I had not known he was doing that. LOL
They also try to grab the guitar picks from the fan Alan is sending them to...and he himself made a point of placing one recently in a Younnng fan's hands and clasping her hands tightly on it before moving along. She turned and gave it to her grandmother behind her to keep safe.
We were allowed to the front of the stage area before Alan came out at that concert and it was to include the first 4 rows. As much as I find it hard to stand that long, I kept my mind off of my knees and back by staring all the pretty off of Alan. Life is Not fair...and it is what it is.

Bostonhonkytonk,,, if you listen to Country radio you will 'hear' what they consider Country music and it ain't Alan. I am heartsick to see 'age' playing a factor in who is chosen to dominate the airwaves on these stations. Also, the drum-whacking is getting to be outrageous. Once you listen for those whacks, you will not be able to ignore them. I think there was a good reason behind the Opry not allowing drums for so many years... that is what I am thinking when I hear these happening so much these days. And, I love the drums...just not so dominating.
I listen more these days to Country Classic where at least they play his older songs...and have my precious CDs for keeping me in my own Country groove.
All of this said, I am Not giving up on voting for Alan's music whenever and wherever I can!!!
Also, someonnnne is not paying attention to the fact that they are killing Classic Country music for the future!

"So You Don't Have to Love Me Anymore," Alan Jackson <<<< Should Win for Country!!! Songwriters: Jay Knowles, Adam Wright
I predict though that this song wins...it is the 'state of Country music' these days: "Springsteen," Eric Church Songwriters: Eric Church, Jeff Hyde, Ryan Tyndell
However: Adam Wright can Now say he is a Grammy-nominated songwriter!!
