Just dropping in here to wish everyone of you[/color] A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS and THE MOST BLESSED, PROSPEROUS AND HEALTHY NEW YEAR!

I won't be answering your posts at this time as I continue to get some rest and try to recover from the nasty cold I'm fighting right now and be well enough to travel on Monday to my in-laws' place for the holiday. Our son started this thing then hubby got it and now I got it. Son is dong fine now and hubby is still having a bit of the nasal congestion and coughing. This is a reminiscent, it seems like, of last year. A week before we were to travel to my in-laws' place hubby got the stomach flu, gave it to me and then our son followed suit. We had to postpone our trip for 3 days just to make make sure we were fully recovered before we traveled. Now, here we go again. Geeeez. . . .

Be healthy and stay healthy, everyone! HUGS!

Thank you for posting this, Harriet. It would be interesting to see how well it will work. I think allowing the digital downloads in the criteria might create a bit more of a problem there for two reasons. One is, fans of the artists pre-selected or chosen in the running for nominations at any of the categories will now jam music download sites to assure their favorite artist(s) gets nominated and possibly win the award(s) they're nominated for, which will put unfair disadvantage to the veterans, like Alan, who are still putting out great music out there, in more ways than one, the way country music these days are being geared to a much younger audience. The other is, the internet traffic jam it could and probably will create will leave a lot of fans feeling disgruntled at the new nominees selection system and will cry foul. Just my opinion. Wonder if CMA will follow suit.

Nelle, thanks for posting this. My family and I were long time loyal KMPS listeners up until we moved out of WA last year. We noticed that as years went on so did the KMPS's country music format, to much of our disappointments. The change in their website's format is also the least to be desired, in my opinion. They turned it from an easy read, easy to navigate one to a too busy and complexed one. I think they're forgetting that many of their listeners and fans are still not that adept with computers.

Thanks, again. I'm going over there now to vote.

Thanks for sharing this, Somebody. Great story and very inspiring. Alan should visit this guy at his business place, surprise him and give him a very well deserved pat on the back along with a big handshake.

What is a vevo as you can tell I am not up on all the new things poor Alan and me...
when I posts for it ...It said I did not have it on my machinel??

Dizzy, VEVO is an online audio/video jukebox, Mozilla Firefox's answer to Yahoo! and Microsoft's (Internet Explorer) versions of it. The link Somebody posted is the page for Alan's music videos that you can set up in your own jukebox playlist. They have 26 of them and I enjoyed watching them all this morning.

Is what you're referring to that is not in your machine a Plug-In? If so, what you need is a Media Flash Player which may or may not be installed in your computer. Click on this link - http://www.adobe.com/ - and on the right hand side, click on Flash Player to get a free download of the MFP. Finish installing it and then try the link again that Somebody posted when you're done. You should be able to see it now and play the videos. Hope this helps.

By the way, I did get an error message that says, "Sorry, this site is not on service" the first 2 times I tried it so I Googled it and found a direct link to VEVO. About 5 minutes or so later I tried Somebody's link again and it worked. Don't know what happened there though.

Take care and HUGS,

Becky, thanks for starting the December thread. WOW! Time fly too fast and we'd soon be singing Auld Lang Syne again.

Kathy, I love Alan's new song too. Can't wait to hear it played on the radio. You've been working too hard you definitely need a long break from your job.

Harriet, hang in there. You'll figure out your iTunes woes pretty soon. Don't let your frustration get to you. Glad to hear your coughing is doing better.

Nelle, sorry to hear about your falls.  You take care of yourself now.

Anita, birthday wishes to all the celebrants in your family.

Terry, Elaine, Nelle, Jinx and everyone else that responded to my post about our Thanksgiving Day mishap, thank you for your care and concerns.  And to update you all. . .

As I've said on my last post in the November thread, everything turned out well and actually a whole lot better than we expected. First off, the guys who were called in to take care of the water mess from our apartment and the one above us, where the problem started, came at around 3 in the afternoon that same day of the mishap. As one of the guys said, "it's got to get done. . .it's got to get done; besides who would turn down extra money for the holidays?" So the carpet padding in the affected areas were removed and the carpet vacuumed to suck out the excess water from it. We had to wait for the carpet to get completely dry before they can replace the padding removed and spray anti-bacterial carpet deodorizer on it. So, we coped with the stinky musty smell of the drying wet carpet until today when the work on our carpet was done. That was supposed to have been done last Monday.

Meanwhile, we had a dilemma about our turkey dinner. It's obvious that we can't cook our dinner now with all the mess we have to contend with and we can't go out to dinner either as we have to keep on watching the water still leaking from upstairs to make sure the containers we're using does not overflow. And so we decided that hubby will just go and buy our meal from a restaurant and bring it home. But then we realized that there's not very many that will still be open at almost 6 o'clock in the evening and we really can't afford to be expensive either. While we were deciding which restaurant hubby will go to, a knock came on our door. Our neighbor upstairs had come down to our apartment to give us some money for our dinner. They handed hubby $60 and told him to "take your family out to dinner." Now that's Southern hospitality!  Hubby tried to give them back the money but they insisted on him taking it. After they left hubby looked at me and said, "Cracker Barrel okay?" Jinx, I had just read your post where you mentioned us going to Cracker Barrel so I kind of laugh when he said that. I was disappointed, however, because I couldn't go with him there. Anyway, so we ordered their Thanksgiving meal special and hubby picked it up half an hour later. That was a scrumptious dinner, turkey slices, stuffing, ham slices, sweet potato casserole, green beans dish, mash potato with turkey gravy, cranberry sauce and cornbread.

There were 2 ironies in this. One is that our upstairs neighbors apparently were supposed to move out the weekend before but that they decided to postpone their move until this past weekend because the new carpeting in the house they were moving into was being replaced last week. If they had moved that weekend the mishap would not have happened here but probably in their new home. The second is our couch. It got soaked in the mishap and now we have it covered as I refuse to sit on it otherwise. I had been wanting to get rid of it when we moved here from Biloxi then this happened. But we hit a snag, though. The contract lease here do not require but encourages unit renters to secure a renter insurance for such incidents as this one as the ownership and management of this apartment complex will not pay for any damage incurred unless they were caused by the office staff members or their maintenance workers. The problem we have now with that policy in this situation is that we've been here only less than 2 months so our renter insurance is not in effect yet for us to use (it will take effect 3 months from when we signed up for it) so whether to buy a new couch or just have our couch professionally cleaned, the expense will come from our own pocket and we can't afford to do that right now.

This is sure to be another Thanksgiving Day we'll never forget and probably won't be the last. In 1983, while hubby was stationed by the Navy in Hawaii, a hurricane hit the island of Oahu where we were (Hurricane Iwa. . .pronounced Eva). That was the day before Thanksgiving. We had no power and even though we have gas stove/oven we can't use it. Because the water reservoirs that's supplying the water to all the residential and business areas there are operating on gas, everyone were asked not to use any of their gas powered appliances. . .gas runs out means no water. So we ended up cooking our turkey in our charcoal barbeque grill. Our next door neighbor did the same thing and then we combined our dinners and ate them outdoors in the covered carport we shared.

By the way, day after Thanksgiving hubby surprised me and took us out to Cracker Barrel for brunch. It gave me another opportunity to buy more stuff from the AJ Collection. Nice!

Well, Saturday we'll finally be able to start putting up our Christmas decorations. Now that the carpet is fixed, our next job would be to cleanup our windows and remove all the mildews that has built up there. . .chances are some of it were left by the previous tenants here. We had not seen them until after this recent mishap. We have not done any shopping yet either. Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas holiday.

Hello to everyone I had amiss to mention. You all take care and HUGS.

Thanks, Harriet. Too bad Colorado scored the final touchdown. :-) Now we'll see if they can beat Texas in the Big 12 championship. Sure hope so. That game will decide whether they play at the Fiesta Bowl, which we rather they do. Otherwise they'll play either at the Alamo Bowl, Holiday Bowl or possibly the Cotton Bowl. It's been years since they play at the National Championship game and we're hoping that they'll get back there again another season. . .soon?

Have been extra tired from the unexpected Thanksgiving Day mishap so I'm going to bed tonight. Everyone, please read my post on the "HAPPY THANKSGIVING" thread. I will be updating you all tomorrow about this tomorrow. Just suffice to say that everything turn out okay in the end. . .as a matter of fact much better than we had expected.

Take care all and HUGS!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING, EVERYONE! Hope you're all having a good one. WE'RE NOT!!!!!!! We're having an emergency in our apartment. . . .not the turkey kind. Apparently the clothes washer hot water hose of our neighbor above us ruptured and they have 3 inch of water in their apartment and lots of it leaked through our ceiling and all over the place including from our light fixtures. If that wasn't bad, they can't clean up the water mess from that apartment (ours too) until Monday so now, not only that we have to contend with the dripping water everywhere, we also have to watch our ceiling to make sure it doesn't collapse on us. . .we were told to poke a hole on it if it starts bulging.

All these happened as we were just about to start fixing our turkey dinner. I heard a noise coming from our laundry room, which is right by our kitchen. I had hubby checked it out and it was water leaking behind our washer. Then all of a sudden water came pouring from our living room ceiling and it went on from there. It's looking like we're going to have to go ahead and just head to a restaurant for Thanksgiving dinner. Well. . .geeee. . . .Happy Thanksgiving to us!

Enjoy the feast, everyone! Take care all. HUGS!

Just stopping by to say Hello! and A VERY HAPPY THANKSGIVING DAY TO YOU ALL!

Jean-Az, HAPPY BIRTHDAY WISHES TO YOU! Hope your day has been a special one.

Kathy, I'm not getting up at 4am on Friday to do any shopping on Friday either. That is just crazy! I'm not sure we're going to do any Christmas shopping this year. We're thinking on just giving gift cards or money. We'll see. .  .

I'll be back here tomorrow sometime and post a bit more. You all enjoy your gatherings with your family and friends. Oh, and so you all will know:

EVERYONE OF YOU ALL HERE, MY AJ FRIENDS, ARE ONE OF THE MANY THINGS I'M THANKFUL FOR THIS YEAR.

Thank you for all your friendships and the warmth you all have made me feel everytime I come here to read all your posts and your responses to my posts. I feel blessed knowing you all. . .even though we all have not met in person yet (except for you,Terry). . .and for becoming a part of this wonderful group of Alan's fans. I'm looking forward to another year, or 2 or 3 or more of this friendly gathering on this forum and reading more concert reviews from you, Terry.  :-)

Take care and HUGS!

Sharon, congrats to Clemson for securing a berth in the ACC Title Game. Now Team Sharon- Clemson- will meet Team Harriet- Georgia Tech. Should be fun & may the best team win.

Congrats on your teams winning, Harriet and Sharon. Will be watching the ACC championship game and see whose team will win. Best of luck to both your teams.

I have to do some "bragging" here too. Smiley Our team, the Nebraska Cornhuskers (Huskers, for short), won their game yesterday too and will be playing at the Big 12 championship, Dec.5, against Texas. Oooooooh, that will be a toughie. We're thinking positively here, though.

Great rest of the weekend everyone!

Alan's WWY actually came in 5th on the list of winners so our votes did help some. That is still not too shabby, although we all know that it's the best in this decade. Here's the link to the complete list of winners:
