General Category / Live Show and Tour Discussion / Re: Presale tickets?
|

I stayed awake for the last two nights hoping that there would be preferred tickets for sale for the York fair concert. None showed up. I am so disappointed, that as a fan club member, I now have to purchase tickets the same as the general public. Isn't that part of the perks of being a fan club member that you get presale tickets? Gone are the days of getting good seats ( row 1-25) surrounded by other fan club members. Now I have to compete with the general public and scalpers (Its has always amazed me how scalpers have tickets for sale before the go on sale to the public!?). Now if you want to be up close, you have to win tickets, buy VIP tickets or buy scalped tickets. I belong to two other fan clubs each have the three day presale on most of their concerts (one also has the VIP tickets). Have always gotten great seats, as I DID with AJ fan club. If not for the fact that I am a proud, loyal card carrying fan, I would be thinking twice about renewing my membership. I hope other fans post their displeasure in this in hopes that they change back to a fan friendly system. Wish me luck in getting tracks seats....I'll need it.
Taccat8, are you, by any chance, referring to the York, Pa show? If so, did you click on where it said More on the right hand side of it in the TOUR page listing? I just checked it out and the tickets sale doesn't go until this Saturday, Feb. 9. I don't know if that is the AJFC pre-sale, though, but you may inquire about that from Cindy via email. Inquire about the pre-sale time too. If it's the norm, just a friendly reminder, you will need to stay up late tomorrow night, Friday, not Saturday night. Thought I'll let you know about this before you go ahead and make the ticket purchase elsewhere, as your post seems to indicate. Hope this helps you.

BHR- The Legit link for this poll on GAC is http://www.gactv.com/ Yours says spam on my computer.. EVERYONE NOTE ABOVE would love to see Alan , wow huge sales with him and lots of licking lol
Thank you, Jeri, for letting me know this. I've already corrected the link on my post above. I agree with your sentiment that there will be huge sales if they put Alan (or combination of Alan and George Strait per book) on the FOREVER postage stamp. The USPS can use that too considering how they are struggling right now financially. Just been announced this morning that a plan is in the works on discontinuation of Saturday mail delivery. . .they'll just deliver packages that day, so they say.
VOTED FOR ALAN!

Thanks for starting the February thread, Harriet. We sure did survive that nasty weather and dodge a bullet. I felt bad for those who were affected by the tornado. Such a devastation. We're still getting rain off and on and mostly start late afternoon/early evening. I guess all of us here are having the same kind of weather. This definitely has been a very weird winter so far.
We didn't have cable-tv and internet service the whole week last week. Our apartment complex mangement/ownership changed providers. They started working on the transistion and installations Jan 28 and was still finishing up today. I don't know if they're completely done already but our service was finally hooked up and started running yesteday. There were a lot of unhappy tennants here because of the Superbowl game and events on tv. Hubby was very grumpy because of the long wait and not being able to use his computer both for work he brings home and for his leisure. I would admit, I missed playing with my computer too and very happy to be back on it again.
Sharon, enjoy your time with your grandson at Disney World. I'm sure you'll both have a blast there.
Susanne, I don't feel comfortable traveling alone too. I hope also that your friend wil be able to go with you. You have a great plan for this summer. Seeing Alan's show is always the best. . .and a must. Enjoy your travels, if you're able to go. I hope you are.
Hi, JeanB, ajarkansasfan and everyone of you, AJ fans. Take care all.

General Category / Alan Music Discussion / CW Survey: Kind Of Country Music You Listen To The Most
|
on: February 03, 2013, 08:51:32 pm
|
Country Weekly magazine's latest and current survey asks, "What Kind Of Music Do You Listen To The Most?". Tradional Country was way ahead when I first saw this a few days ago, but I see now the Pop Country has slowly inched ahead of the Tradional Country. It's still a bit close, though. Here are the choices and current votes count (at least one of the categories is controversial, per fans comments, which I agree with):
Pop Country (Carrie Underwood/Lady A/Luke Bryan) - 44% Traditional Country (George Strait/Alan Jackson) - 41% Country Rap (Colt Ford) - 0% Alternative Country (Steve Earle/Emmylou Harris) - 1% Outlaw Country (Jason Aldean/Eric Church/Brantley Gilbert) - 14%
Vote from the link below, if you would like to join this survey.

Harriet, I think the roads are a mess today. I would have postponed the appointment too. We did ok, just had lots of rain and light flickerings. We thought for awhile there we were going to lose our power. There are a bit of flooding in the lower elevations right now in our area. Glad we're on higher elevation. Happy to hear you and your hubby are fine too. We sure got nasty weather today. My cellphone went off real loud this morning with the alert on the tornadon warning. Hubby was just leaving for his stress test and almost rescheduled it. But he had lost so much sleep over it last night so went ahead and got it done. He did fine. . .the doctor said he's healthy. . .although he looked a little pale when he got back home. He went straight to bed and took a long nap. He said it was very windy on his drive back home. . .the traffic lights were swinging and the tree branches swaying kind of wild. Scary. You take care. HUGS.

To all of you living in the affected areas in Tennessee and Georgia, please stay safe. Harriet, I hope you and your hubby are ok. I see that Adairsville, where the tornado touched down early this afternoon here in GA, is not too far from where you're at. Not sure if we're still on tornado watch, but, a severe thunderstorm (and flooding) warning has just been issued to several counties in the metro Atlanta. Thoughts and prayers for everyone affected by this nasty weather event.

I would like to inform you all that I made an inquiry via email about the first item in the voting terms and rules that made me wondered if votes from outside of Australia will count in their tally. It said that the voting is open to all residents of Australia but did not specify if that is ONLY or JUST for residents of Australia. I have just received a response from CMC's Group Program Manager, Tim Daley , to which he said that, YES, all votes counts worldwide. He also added that he will ask their team if they can clarify the rules. So. . . . . . . . . . .
LET'S ALL VOTE FOR ALAN AND SYDHTLMA!!!!!!

Jeri, thanks for posting this and informing us all here (especially those of us who doesn't have a Facebook account). I tried to get to their voting page but couldn't get in there. My guess is, so many fans are voting all at once right now that the voting site got jammed. LET'S ALL VOTE FOR ALAN! See the link at the HOME page.
CONGRATS, ALAN!!!!!!!

Bostonhonkytonk,,, if you listen to Country radio you will 'hear' what they consider Country music and it ain't Alan. I am heartsick to see 'age' playing a factor in who is chosen to dominate the airwaves on these stations. Also, the drum-whacking is getting to be outrageous. Once you listen for those whacks, you will not be able to ignore them. I think there was a good reason behind the Opry not allowing drums for so many years... that is what I am thinking when I hear these happening so much these days. And, I love the drums...just not so dominating.
I listen more these days to Country Classic where at least they play his older songs...and have my precious CDs for keeping me in my own Country groove.
All of this said, I am Not giving up on voting for Alan's music whenever and wherever I can!!!
Also, someonnnne is not paying attention to the fact that they are killing Classic Country music for the future!
Mar, everything you've said is so true. Along with loud banging of the drums, I'm also troubled with the prominence of the use of electric guitars among the young (er) artists today. It seems like the acoustic guitars has all but gone the same path as the traditional country music. It's hard to listen to them anymore. Thank heavens for Alan, George Strait the Classic Country Music Radio and our personal collection of great traditional country music, we can still listen to REAL country music. . .and save our eardrums. :-)

This is an interesting read for those of us who has been commenting on the current state of country music. . . .and for the last decade. The subject of this article is the idea of putting the new country artists of today and the upcoming ones through a test and giving them a badge as Certified Wannabe Country Star (CWCS) if they pass it. Can anyone here answer all the questions on the list within this article? I'm a country music fan for as long as Alan has been in the business and yet I found myself stumped at a lot of those questions. However, I have some country music books that I have purchased over the years and this article made me peruse them for some refresher course. Reading the article will kind of make you wonder how much these so called new country music artist really do know about country music and its rich tradition. By the way, I do agree with this idea.
